Albinism
NSW locale Eastern Blue Tongues
Seeing photos of these on line for the first time in 2008 set the pulse racing !!! I managed to get my hands on some in 2009 from Snake Ranch and managed replicate them and outbreed in the following 2 seasons… There was so much more to come from this stunning mutation !!!
Hyper Melanism
NSW locale Eastern Blue Tongues
Amazing jet black blueys which have consistently been the most sought after single gene mutation year after year after year !!! Again I scored my first group in 2009 again from John Weigel’s Snake Ranch and replicated them two seasons later which then led to the game changing Lava combination with Albinism in 2012.
Black Eyed Anery
Kimberley locale Northern Blueys
I bumped into this morph when breeding my group of Prince Regent blueys in 2014 with amazing Jet Black eyes staring back at me in a newborn litter….. A key mutation for combos which I later used to make Snows, Mercury & replicate (Karen Russell) Alabasters amongst others as the years passed. I still have the very first Anery in my collection to this day.
White Northern
Darwin locale Northern Blue Tongues
Stunning white lizards which rivalled Albinos & Hypers in popularity from the outset as the pictures show !!! I started working with this mutation in 2012 after purchasing a group from the mutation founder John Robert Coward with combination opportunities such as Alabasters, Mercury, Sunglows & Moonglows to follow over the subsequent years.
T+ Albino
Darwin locale Northern Blue Tongues
A sensational array of pastel colours encapsulates what T+ brings to the table and those who have been fortunate enough to replicate them have been wowed by the variation and colours that they offer. Its always a great sign as to how awesome something is by the naysayer response !!! I was fortunate enough to buy the founder group from Dave Mitchell in Rockhampton and go onto encorporate this classic morph into combos such as T+ ‘Violet’ Whiteside, T+ Anery & T+ Hyper.
Patternless
NSW locale Eastern Blue Tongues
A classic incomplete dominant mutation with some unreal looking examples of visual hets. The founder animal given to me by Mark Green in 2015 which I was fortunate enough to breed and produce a small number of progeny which saw the mutation replicated in 2018. Combos now resultant from this now include Patternless Axanthic & Patternless Albino… with more to come in 2024/25 season !!
Patchwork
Darwin locale Northern Blue Tongues
This mutation has proven to be a low expression pied as per my original suspicions after being found to be Allelic with the stunning Whiteside Mutation. The original which I produced from the T+ albino line after finding that one of the original T+ was also het for Patchwork through a few seasons of outbreeding and subsequent back pairing of progeny. Its tiny patches of pied scales on the feet, toes & snout proving to be a lot more than the initial markings suggested.
Whiteside
NSW locale Eastern Blue Tongues
Produced from a group of wild type Easterns in 2022 this simply stunning mutation has opened up the potential for a vast array of pied phenotypic combinations…. Paired to it’s allelic brother Patchwork creating Piedsides and the Double Visual T+ ‘Violet’ Whiteside have showed the tip of the iceberg as to combinations that this mutation can produce. Again outside noise has only stiffened the resolve in completing the leg work to see further combinations…. Watch this space !!!
Pinstripe Blotchie
Vic Alpine locale Blotched Blue Tongues
A couple of early examples of this mutation were originally owned by the late Rob McCarthy in Victoria who was generous enough to give me what turned out to be a visual het after I outbred and proved the line to have the exact same phenotype as the Patternless scincoides mutation. The very first proven Blotched Blue Tongue mutation which I have now managed to combine with stunning effect with the Axanthic Blotched bluey line.
Axanthic Blotchie
Vic Lowland Blotched Blue Tongue
Hyper Melanistic Blotchie
Vic Lowland Blotched Blue Tongue
A small handful of these ‘Ultimate Black Blueys’ have been produced by Paul Drew in Victoria with a single animal and siblings offered to me by John McGrath and the guys from Amazing Amazon in 2021. Slow progress but hopefully should see some replication either this season or next.
Other notable Existing Projects
Hypo Bandit Eastern?
NSW locale Eastern Blue Tongue
This individual critter seems to match the existing proven Bandit mutation proven out by Anthony Stimpson…. I’m still working on this particular animal with progress to date being slow. Fingers crossed for some outcomes this season.
Albino Blotchie
Tasmanian locale Blotched Blue Tongues
Owned by Chris Daly in Tasmania and currently being worked on to replicate.
Patchwork Blotchie
Tasmanian locale Blotched Blue Tongues
A project currently being worked through by Adrian Hoffman in Tasmania.
Hypo Centralian
WA locale Centralian Blue Tongues
This animal actually gained colouration in subsequent sheds but was still nevertheless a stunning example which unfortunately was never replicated.
